7 TIPS ON HOW TO SING BETTER

If you want to take your singing voice to the next level; you are in a right place. Here you’ll learn how to improve and maintain your voice. This article is highly recommended for the beginners.

 The following are the tips to sing better;

1.      Believe in Yourself
The first thing you need as a new singer is to believe in yourself. Stop comparing yourself with other singers out there. You should know who you are and what you want to achieve. You’re unique, and you should stay so to make it in this game.
The truth is you have something different to offer. Your attitude towards your singing affects you in one way or the other. BELIEVE IN YOURSEELF, no one else has what you have.

2.      Warm up your voice every day.
Learn and try different vocal warm ups exercises. Then choose what works for you. Use them daily.  Yes, Everyday. Warm up your voice before singing or singing exercises , it’s really advantageous; It help singers improve their pitch, breath management and increases their vocal range.

One of the best and recommended vocal warm up exercise is Lip trills on scales (From low to high pitch and vice versa). I personally use this exercise up to date for warming up. You too can try this one!

3.      Learn to Breath Correctly.
Like an engine to the car, breathing to singers. Different singing techniques depend on your breath management and support. Therefore, even before thinking of training any vocal technique; learn to breathe correctly.

There are plenty of breathing techniques out there; don't be confused. Proper breathing for singers is called Diaphragmatic Breathing. This kind of breathing engages the diaphragm when singing. Diaphragm expands when inhale and contracts when exhale.

4.      Drink plenty of Water.
If Breathing is an engine, Water is a fuel. A vehicle cannot move without fuel. Water is essential for any vocalist. Water makes your vocal cords hydrated and avoids friction.

A singer or vocalists is advised to take 8 glasses of water a day. This means you should drink water even when you don’t feel. Water will do you good, I promise. Make sure during exercises or show a bottle of water is along side with you.

5.      Get enough sleep.
Get enough sleep to stay alert. When you’re tired, your vocal cords are probably tired too. Singers should sleep at least 6 to 8 hours to ensure an alerted singing voice.

6.      Don't eat or Drink everything.
Not everything that brought on the dining table is friendly to singers. There are kinds of food and beverages that negatively affects the vocal cords. Don’t take dairy products before singing because they form mucus on the vocal cords which may cause friction. Stop smoking and taking beers; this habits are not friendly to your singing voice.

There are kinds of food that works for some people and doesn't for others, therefore study what works for you and what doesn't.

7.      Never Stop Learning
If you can enroll yourself to a Singing Training Course do that. Never graduate from learning what you love. Read many articles as possible on Singing and Singing exercises. Watch different videos on YouTube and enroll to online singing courses. Ask questions, when you do not understand.
